Church Musician
Job Description
The Church Musician shall help present worship services at United Congregational Church, U.C.C. that praise God through music, and invite participation by all attendees.
The duties of the Musician will be performed under the guidance of the Church Pastor, and the Musician shall also serve as a music resource for the Pastor and the Church. Pay $180-$210 per week, commensurate with experience.
Duties of the Church Musician include:

Participation in weekly Sunday worship services, and four special worship services throughout the year. (Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday)

Providing musical accompaniment for the worship services, using the church piano or other suitable instruments.

Suggest and perform musical selections for other parts of the worship service, like the Gathering Music, Prelude, Communion accompaniment, etc. in consultation with the Church Pastor (or other worship leaders).

Aid members of United Congregational Church in the development and use of their musical talents, including:

Encourage special music by members of United

Lead the congregation in learning new hymns

Work with a Pickup Choir

Occasionally teach the children songs

Qualifications:

Familiarity with church hymnody and worship service structure

Proficiency on the piano to provide choir and congregational singing including the ability to play simple contemporary worship style music

Able to work collaboratively with the pastor, but without direct supervision

Professional, dedicated, detail oriented with good people skills
